This time the organizer, Exhibition Company 'Restec', and the Journal 'NDT World Review' put an emphasis on the conference program, very interesting and full of relevant topics. The support of Russian and International Societies for Nondestructive Testing: RSNTTD, EFNDT and ICNDT provided its scientific part, and the NDT practitioners of leading Russian Industrial Companies assured an applied one. Big interest and activity of the audience at the seminars, round tables and presentations as well as the possibility to demonstrate discussed devices at work at booths stimulated a number of companies-manufactures to reserve a place in the conference program of 'Defectoscopy' for the next year. Sessions worked in the conference halls of the exhibition, where several issues were discussed, including issues of industrial application of thermography, phased array, the present state and future development of NDT automatisation etc.
The experience in holding one-day seminars, organized on the basis of acting companies showed that the possibility to demonstrate the objects of inspection in actual practice helps companies to solve the tasks they face in a more effective way. The seminar 'Automatization of Operating Gas Pipelines Diagnostics' should be particularly noted. The seminar was organized with the support of OJSC 'Orgenergogas' (Moscow), LLC 'Lentransgas' and was held at the compressor station 'Severnaya'. The other seminars also were a success: 'Non-Destructive Inspection of Structures During its Construction and Operation', organized by The B.E. Vedeneev Institute for Water Engineering; 'NDT and Safety at the Railways', organized by Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Specialists (St. Petersburg State Administration for Line of Communication); 'Strategy of Development of NDT Systems for Railway Rolling Stock Inspection', and 'Efficiency Upgrading of Rails and Welded Joints Inspection at Repair and Construction Enterprise', organized by JSC Russian Railways, 'Practical demonstration of an automated NDT systems, including objects of inspection, provided by the seminar visitors', organized by Group of Companies 'Unitest'. All the exhibitors noted the high level of visitors' qualification (the exhibition was visited by more than 2000 NDT specialists) and the minimum of occasional visitors, who so often draw away from positive work at suchlike events. The exhibition was visited by the representatives of all the main industries: oil and gas industry, mechanical-engineering, metallurgical, power and transport industries, aerospace industry etc. 48 exhibitors, leading companies in NDT and Technical Diagnostics not only from Russia but from abroad (Germany, USA, Switzerland) as well participated in the exhibition this year. At the booths of companies 'CCS Services', 'ASK-Roentgen', 'MP Diagnost', 'Intrade', 'Panatest' 'Pergam-Engineering', 'SKON' the NDT and TD devices of world leading manufactures were demonstrated: ICM S.A. (Belgium); Derritron Electronics Ltd, ELY Chemical Co., KODAK Int. (UK); Chemetall, GE Inspection Technologies, Helmut Fischer GmbH, Pr?ftechnik, Seba KMT (Germany); Sonotron NDT (Israel); CMI Int., Mikron, Niton, Varian, Inc. (USA); CHAUVIN ARNOUX (France); ATG (Czech Republic); Comet (Switzerland); FLIR Systems AB (Sweden); FUJI TECOM (Japan).
Devices of all NDT methods, ultrasonic, radiographic, acoustic emission, optical, termography, eddy current were presented at the stands of exhibitors etc. Railway flaw detectors were demonstrated at work at the section of rails installed in the exhibition hall. This possibility was arranged by the Oktiabrskaya Railways and the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Specialists (St. Petersburg State Administration for Line of Communication). The Journal 'NDT World Review' and Exhibition Company 'RESTEC' conducted opinion poll among the visitors during the work of the exhibition. According to visitors opinion OmniScan-MX (R/D Tech tm, Olympus NDT Inc., USA, production) and flaw-detector-measurer 'SPRUT PT-110D' (Group of Companies 'Tvema', Moscow,designer) were acknowledged to be the most interesting exhibits. Besides this, according to the poll, diplomas were got by 'Ultes', Moscow (for the best and distinguished booth design), 'Olympus Moscow' (for the best booth exposition consulting service) and 'Company Nordinkraft', Cherepovets (for the active participation in the conference program of the exhibition).
Awarding of participants of the Exhibition and the Conference took place on the last day of the exhibition. According to the presentations of devices, submitted by the companies-participants, special committee, consisting of respected specialists-practitioners, presented diplomas to 53 exhibits, as the devices that meet up-to-date requirements for NDT and TD means and were successfully applied in practice. It is noteworthy that for the first time one of the round tables was devoted to the issues of effectiveness of this exhibition and its' possible future forms, discussed by marketing specialists of NDT companies including the organizers of this workshop. We hope that communication of marketing specialists was useful and will become a tradition at our exhibition. All the participants of the exhibition and special guests attended official reception that took place on board of a ship (boat). This night saunter along the Neva River was a very pleasant impression for everyone.
