Large Stand-off Magnetometry Method and Metal Magnetic Memory Technology Applied to Pipelines Inspection

After carrying out many inspections concluded that the LSM method and the metal magnetic memory is acceptable for no piggables pipeline inspection. These methods provide a good Integrity Management Plan in compliance with current legislation and company objectives.
Advantages of this method are the capabilities to found anomalies with a remote technique, this allows us to inspect the pipeline with any change of its normal operation condition, but the results yield always a qualitative identification of the anomalies.
On the other hand, with the defect in pre-destruction zone, it is necessary make an excavation to quantify the level of the anomalies with other conventional technique. The LSM-MMM methods dont replace the conventional methods but it is a very good alternative to inspect lines when physical or operational conditions do not permit a traditional method of inspection. Moreover, these methods combined with other techniques of nondestructive inspection, allow us to accomplish a plan of integrity for unpiggable lines.
