Evaluation of Influence of Chemical and Fibrogenic Factors of a Working Environment when Carrying out Liquid Penetrant Inspection

There are different ways of applying a penetrant to a surface tested. Aerosol spray penetrant is used to control geometrically complex and inconveniently located objects. Such a method is most convenient in application and most unfavorable for affecting the respiratory system. The existing methodology for calculating the maximum permissible concentration of harmful substances does not take into account many features of the process of aerosol formation and is not suitable for evaluation of penetrant testing operations.
Multiple excess of substance concentration in a short technological cycle is not fixed when the results are averaged to average and maximum single allowable concentrations. The results of the study allow quantitative assessment of the chemical and fibrogenic factors in the respiratory zone of the NDT inspector performing penetrant testing using aerosol penetrant sets.
Penetrant concentration dependence on the area of the object tested is obtained experientially. The task of summarizing all the data presented in uniform practical standards for the conduct of penetrant testing is considered.
