Challenges of Stress Measuring Methods Application on the Structural Assessment of Navigation Facilities Machinery

The possibility of applying modern methods for estimating the stress-strain state, while monitoring the technical state of the elements of the mechanical equipment of navigation locks under operating conditions, is considered. Destructive aging processes that reduce the technical condition of the mechanical equipment of navigation locks are considered. Its characteristic damages and failures are given, information about which is presented taking into account long-term observations and studies. The currently used non-destructive methods for monitoring the technical condition of mechanical equipment are indicated, to prevent the realization of failures caused by the course of destructive processes. The analysis of various modern methods of measuring applied stresses is carried out, with the aim of their possible use on the objects under consideration. As a result of the analysis, for the conduct of laboratory tests, taking into account the influence of various factors, the method of magnetic anisotropy was chosen. The results of the tests establish the dependence of the results obtained on the state of the controlled surface and the physical properties of the sample material.
